We've played around with this scenario ourselves. We left the JDM's optical engine open, not covered up. In some scenarios, this optical engine acts a bit like a projector. Hi Depends on your local optician. We heard from our friends at Mentra that opticians in the US often refuse service because they're afraid to break smart glasses. You can ask a local optician, if they say no, then we'll provide that service for you. 🙂

There's 2 modes of operation: fully local on device, and connected to a remote session. It allows installing any CLI/TUI harness, so you can use your existing subscriptions to Claude code/codex, etc. Apps have full access to all system devices and services, we haven't added any sandboxing, everything just works how Linux is supposed to work. When outdoors (no wifi), Monako needs to be tethered to phone via BLE to have internet. BLE'S battery drain is very light. Display is 640×480, camera is 8mp (not intended for photos, it has a very wide FOV with fish eye effect). We have a custom Rockchip SoC (they got in touch with us to design a variant with an external DDR), still working out the details with them

Yes! There are 2 ways you can use your existing setup, we have a desktop app that allows you to 1. Connect Monako to harneses on your PC, and use your existing installation of Typeless or Whisper Flow for dictation. 2. Install your local harness and all skills to Monako Glass, and synchronize your current workspace to the glasses so you can run them with your computer turned off. Hey, thanks for asking this so thoughtfully. The monthly AMA plan is mainly about creating a regular update rhythm, not suggesting that people should expect a very long wait. The main thing is that the upgrade to Qualcomm AR1 changed a lot more than just the chip. It affected the board flex, internal layout, software adaptation, thermal/power behavior, and production validation. And we’re doing all of this while trying to keep the same appearance, weight, and overall product form. That makes the work much harder, but AR1 is also much closer to what we originally imagined as a second-generation Monako product. So when first-batch supporters receive the glasses, they’re getting something much closer to our internal “Gen 2” vision, not just the original version with a small upgrade. You mean with the bone conduction mic? We deciced to take you guys's suggestion and keep the bone conduction mic instead of going with a 4 mic array. No need for additional software noise cancelling because the mic does this by default.
