We've just finished a large refactor to introduce Flecs into our window system. Since our entire software experience is designed around spatial computing now, the UI is very similar to a game world, and ECS (Entity Component System) became the natural way all UI gets computed, managed, and rendered. Yeah, this is a great question — and no, the idea is not that Monako only works when you’re sitting next to your desktop or on your home Wi-Fi. We’re thinking about this in two modes: First, remote sessions. Claude Code / Codex can keep running on another machine — your desktop, NAS, VPS, Droplet, or cloud dev environment — and the glasses act as the interface layer to monitor, interact with, and send commands to that session. So if your vibe-coded projects already live across GitHub, Vercel, droplets, or other services, Monako doesn’t need to run everything locally. It can connect into the workflow and help you control or monitor those sessions remotely. Second, local sessions. With the move to Qualcomm AR1, the glasses have a much stronger on-device compute foundation than our original platform. This means MonoOS can support more meaningful local workflows directly on the device, instead of treating the glasses as only a thin client. That said, for very heavy Claude Code / Codex workloads — especially large repo analysis, long-running builds, multi-agent tasks, or projects that already live on your NAS, VPS, Droplet, GitHub, or Vercel — it will still make sense to connect to a remote machine or cloud development environment. So the goal is not “local only” or “remote only.” The goal is a flexible workflow: run what makes sense locally on the glasses, and connect to remote sessions when the task needs more compute, storage, or access to your existing infrastructure.
