MonoOS:Open LinuxSmart GlassesOperating System

Monako · Operating System

MonoOS is a Linux-based operating system in development for Monako Glass, with a Lua application layer and Rive animation runtime.

Developers

Available now: the official developer AMA and the Monako developer community.

Planned resources include a Lua SDK, example applications, developer documentation, system images and staged emulator releases. These resources are being prepared as the platform moves to Qualcomm AR1.

News & Updates

Lua Application Layer

  • Tiny footprint: LuaJIT only requires 200-500 KB of RAM per app.
  • High performance: one of the fastest dynamic language runtimes, often competitive with JavaScript JITs.
  • No build step: agents can generate Lua apps on the fly and run them immediately without compilation.

Embedded Rive Animation Runtime

Rive gives MonoOS lightweight, interactive vector animations that stay sharp, state-driven, and fast on wearable hardware. With the runtime embedded into the OS, Monako Glass is designed to run cinematic interface motion that looks straight out of science fiction movies.
